Chapter 1

The Beginning

I have a dear friend that posted this on Facebook and I wanted to start our blog with her thoughts.

Change. Is. Hard.

Jennifer Hine

Sometimes we desire it, and we work really hard for it.
Sometimes we seek it out. Sometimes we know it is coming-other times , it finds us when we least expect it.
Sometimes change brings much pain and sometimes change brings much beauty-and other times change is just
that-Change.
I have a friend, the dearest of friends and changes are coming to our lives. For the last 7 years or more this friend and I have walked-Monday-Thursday -we walked. If you put it to numbers it looks something like this-
3.65miles per day x 16 days per month=58.40 x12 months per year=700.8miles x 7 years=4,905.6 miles.
(but this is math according to Jennifer).

4,905 miles , give or take a mile or two-but the numbers do not reflect what really happened on these walks.
We walked in mornings so early that we had to wear a head flashlight, we walked through below zero temps, snow, rain, heat and were witness to some of the most stunning sunrises that God has to offer-we walked through the awaking of Spring and all it’s new beginnings, onto Summers that we wished to could go on and into to Falls so beautiful and golden that all you could do was stop and stare, into Winters stark and quiet, we walked.
We walked through births and deaths, marriage and divorce. We walked through sickness , health, retirement and change. We bore one another’s burdens, we mourned with each other, we comforted one another in the bleakest of times. And while we walked, we talked.
We talked of Jesus.
We talked of His love.
We talked of His grace.
We talked of His mercy.
We marveled at His love for us- His perfect , unfailingly love for us.
Us- in all our imperfections and failings.
Us-two middle aged women, with no extraordinary talents, except their love of walking and talking.
He. Loves. Us.
That’s what we talked of while we walked.
We walked and looked forward to the future with plans that have been made for years, and as those dreams begin to come to pass, they bring change.
I will forever hold in a special place in my heart these sweet moments and memories made while walking with my friend.
Change is hard-but only when we embrace the change can new memories begin.
